The German based automaker Volkswagen has recently pulled the wraps off the new Scirocco R, during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, in a world premiere.
Volkswagen has pulled the plug on the previous version of the Scirocco R back in December 2013, as the company has announced a new model, which should have been unveiled during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and it was. But technically, this isn’t a brand new model as the car manufacturer has unveiled a facelifted version of the Scirocco, during the Swiss automotive event, along with its more interesting version, the Scirocco R.
Five exterior colors will be available for the updated Scirocco and the model has also received new bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, a new front bumper, restyled LED taillights, a different rear bumper, modified boot lid, reworked front grille and others. There are also new wheel designs, new materials used in the cabin, additional set of gauges for the chronometer, oil temperature and oil pressure, flat bottomed steering wheel wrapped in leather, new air vents, Park Assist system, Dynaudio Excite audio system and more.
Volkswagen says that all engines which are found on the updated Scirocco are coming with the standard stop/start system and the battery regeneration mode. The only exception is the 280 HP found on the Scirocco R. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual, offered as standard, and a dual-clutch DSG, which is not available on the 1.4 TSI, which will be offered as an option. No pricing details have been announced yet.
