Jeep has released new details and images of the 2014 Cherokee ahead of its public debut over the next few hours, during the 2013 New York Auto Show.
The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is the first Jeep model to use the new Compact U.S. Wide platform made by Chrysler, which is benefiting from the independent front and rear suspension, offering an improved handling, comfort and, theoretically, off-road performance. The new Cherokee has an aerodynamic design, inspired from the recently revised Grand Cherokee, and the model is expected to deliver world-class on-road dynamics, an improved fuel economy, lower CO2 emissions and a wide range of equipment.
“The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee will be the benchmark for mid-size SUVs, with a new level of on-road driving dynamics and fuel economy, while at the same time improving the 4×4 capability that customers expect from Jeep”, said the Jeep brand boss, Mike Manley.
The cabin of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee is coming with cloth or leather seats with heating, cooling and memory function, heated leather wrapped steering wheel, wireless charging pad, 7-inch optional color unit, 3.5-inch grayscale screen, cruise control, ten airbags, stability control and more. Engine options will include the 2.4L four-cylinder Tigershark petrol, with 184 BHP and 171 lb-ft, and the new 3.2L V6 Pentastar petrol, with 271 BHP and 239 lb-ft of torque. The units are expected to be mated to the new nine-speed transmission. Four versions of the new Jeep Cherokee will be available at the time of its launch, the Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk.
