The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has leaked in new images, ahead of its public debut scheduled for the 2014 NAIAS.
The bosses of the German based automaker are clearly not happy after some new images with the new generation of the C-Class have ended up on the web. The pictures in question are clearly showing similarities with the larger E-Class and S-Class and it has an evolutionary design, looking more upscale than the version it’s replacing. The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will receive a sculpted bodywork, a prominent grille, LED infused headlights, some S-Class style taillights and a dual exhaust system, probably inspired from the smaller CLA.
The brand new Mercedes-Benz C-Class will ride on a different platform, which will make its wheelbase 8 cm longer than before, in a move to make room for the new four-door coupe, the CLA. Besides growing in size, offering some new technologies and an evolutionary design, the new C-Class generation will also be lighter, by approximately 100 kg (220 lbs), thanks to the use of aluminum body panels. As far as the engine lineup goes, the model is said to receive a 1.6 liter and a 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol units, with 157 HP (115 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque and 186 HP (136 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque respectively, along with a 170 HP (125 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.
