Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the brand new GLA 45 AMG production version, ahead of the model’s public debut scheduled for the 2014 NAIAS in Detroit.
Originally previewed by a concept car just a couple of months ago, the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG is finally here and it basically looks like it did in some renderings a few days ago. The styling of the small and powerful crossover is more aggressive, compared to the regular version of the model, as it has received new front and rear bumpers, different side skirts, a quad exhaust setup and larger alloy wheels, amongst others.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG has also received features like the carbon fiber package, the rear spoiler, the red painted brake calipers, the privacy windows, the several black accents and the high performance braking system, amongst others. As far as the cabin goes, this is now getting the leather / Dinamica microfiber with red contrast stitching, an AMG instrument cluster, a three-spoke Nappa leather wrapped steering wheel, carbon fiber trim, performance seats and much more.
Power to the crossover is being provided, as you already knew, by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder Euro 6 compliant turbocharged gasoline engine, which is also found on the A 45 AMG and on the CLA 45 AMG. The total output produced stands at 360 HP (265 kW) and the torque figure at 450 Nm (331 lb-ft). This is mated to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT transmission, which is sending power to the 4MATIC AWD. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes just 4.8 seconds and top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). The average fuel consumption stands at 7.5L / 100 km (37.6 mpg UK / 31.3 mpg US).
