Mercedes-Benz is currently testing an XL version of the new S-Class generation, which should hit the market in the first half of 2014.
The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz is playing in the big league once again with its new S-Class generation, but after launching the luxurious model, things aren’t over in the segment, as the company is still developing several more body styles based on it. One of these body styles is the so-called Mercedes-Benz S-Class XL, which has been recently caught on camera by our spy photographers, while it was being tested on the famous German track, the Nurburgring.
This isn’t the Pullman version of the new S-Class and it’s in fact an extra-long wheelbase, which will be positioned above the current long wheelbase model and just below the Pullman. The long wheelbase model which is already available in dealerships is 5,256 mm long, so this new variant is expected to be 200 mm longer and to feature a 2+2 seating layout. The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class XL is expected to be unveiled next May. Additional details on the model remain unknown for the moment and will be announced once the model will be officially presented.
