The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz has recently released a few official spy photos with the 2014 Unimog and 2014 Econic, which are being tested in cold weather.
According to the car manufacturer, the Mercedes-Benz Unimog and Econic in question are actually prototypes which have been heavily camouflaged. The 2014 Unimog is revealing its prominent single bar grille and the Econic seems to have an upright front fascia.
“Whereas the winter trials in Finland test the vehicles for their adaptability in extreme cold, in Spain we make sure that heat and different altitudes do not present a problem. This ensures that our customers can rely on our vehicles for all uses and at all times”, said Walter Eisele, the head of Production and Development for Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks.
The Mercedes-Benz Unimog and Econic, for the 2014 model year, have been tested on icy roads and snow on temperatures as low as -30 degreees Celsius (-22 Fahrenheit) and the models were also tested in hot weather, in Granada, Spain, on temperatures in excess 45 degrees Celsius (113 Fahrenheit). The models were also tested in altitudes of 2,500 meters (8,202 fee), in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Mercedes-Benz said that the 2014 Unimog and Econic will get new BlueTec-6 diesel engines, which are meeting the Euro VI emission standards, and will also get the AdBlue system and a particulate filter.
