General Motors has managed to snap the 2014 North American Car and Truck of the Year awards away with its new Corvette generation and with the new Silverado.
The winners of the 2014 North American Car and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) have been announced during the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit after the finalists have been made public at the beginning of December.
“The Corvette and Silverado truly embody the passion, thumb commitment and focus that is driving us to deliver the most expressive designs, innovative technologies and engaging performance in every vehicle that wears the bowtie”, said the GM senior vice president Alan Batey.
The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is coming with a 5.3 liter EcoTec3 V8 engine, which is good for 355 HP. The unit can switch to four cylinders in order to save fuel during light load driving and the estimated highway fuel economy stands at 23 mpg US. The Silverado is said to offer the best fuel economy of any V8 pickup truck. The new Corvette generation has a 6.2 liter V8 engine under its hood, which is good for 455 HP an 460 lb-ft of torque, or 460 HP and 465 lb-ft with the performance exhaust system. When equipped with the Z51 Performance Package, the 0 to 60 mph sprint takes 3.8 seconds.
