Subaru has recently introduced a Rallycross-spec 2015 WRX STI, during the 2014 New York Auto Show, in a premiere.
The new Subaru WRX STI GRC racer has been already announced earlier this week and now the model is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the company officially pulling the wraps off its body during the automotive event taking place in the Big Apple. The racer will be taking part in the Global RallyCross Championship and it’s a joint project between Subaru Rally Team USA, RedBull Global Rallycross and NBC, being created to promote the RedBull GRC season which will start on the 18th of May.
“Subaru of America offered a peek into their racing future with a Rallycross-spec 2015 WRX STI today at the New York International Auto Show”, said the carmaker in the official press release.
The Subaru WRX STI GRC racer has received a custom wide body kit, a bespoke STI carbon fiber spoiler, a roof scoop, Method Race Wheels, wrapped in Yokohama tires and more. The racing car will be driven by Sverre Isachen and Bucky Lasek. More details on it remain unknown for the moment and will probably be announced during its racing debut.
