The brand new Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen Concept has been officially introduced during the 2014 New York Auto Show, in a premiere.
Volkswagen has made sure to create a one-off model for this year’s New York Auto Show, besides pulling the wraps off the redesigned Jetta, the Golf GTI and the Golf R, during the same automotive event. We’re talking about the so-called Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen Concept, which has been designed to preview a production model which will go on sale early next year, in the United States, being said to be a sportier alternative to SUVs.
The production model will be coming with automatic climate control, with a panoramic sunroof, with bi-xenon headlights and 18-inch aluminum wheels, amongst others. As far as the engine lineup goes, this will include two units, the 170 HP (126 kW) four-cylinder 1.8 liter turbocharged, along with the 2.0 liter TDI diesel, producing 150 HP (111 kW). The petrol burner can be had with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel can be paired to a 6-speed manual or to a DSG. More details on the model remain unknown for the moment.
