The Czech based automaker Skoda is planning to pull the wraps officially off the new generation of the Octavia this month.
After fully leaking a couple of times while the carmaker was trying to tease it, the new generation of the Skoda Octavia is closer to its future customers than before and if its public debut will be made in January, 2013, during the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, the very first official images and details, revealing its exterior and interior design, will be released sometimes this month.
The new generation of the Skoda Octavia, which is wearing the 2014 model year in its name, meaning that it will hit the market next year, will be based on the same MQB platform used by the Volkswagen Group on some of its models, including the new generation Golf 7, the 2013 Audi A3 or the brand new Seat Leon. The platform won’t be the only thing shared by the new Octavia and the Golf 7 because the popular German hatchback is expected to borrow its engine lineup to the Czech vehicle, including the 2.0 liter turbo from the new GTI, which will be used on the vRS version. Additional details on the new Skoda Octavia will be announced later on this month.
