The Indian based automaker Tata Motors is planning to upgrade the Nano for the 2014 model year and the model will receive a larger engine.
There are no official details on the 2014 Tata Nano just yet but rumors are saying that the model will receive a large 0.8 liter (800 cc) gasoline engine under its hood in approximately 12 months from now which should allow the cheapest car on the local market to battle models like the Maruti Alto or the Hyundai Eon. The current 624 cc unit found on the 2012 Tata Nano will probably be offered as an entry-level version and the larger 800 cc engine will probably start at Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
As a quick reminder, the 2012 Tata Nano is coming with a 624 cc engine which is developing a total output of 38 horsepower, with improved mileage to 25,4 km/liter. The small vehicle has a choice of three exterior colors and it’s also adding tubeless tires, tip-tap driver’s side mirror, clear headlamps, booster assisted brakes and front suspension with anti-roll bar for the entry-level, while the CX is adding six colors and AC with heating (optional), and the LX has a 12V socket, cup holder, front power windows, central locking, body colored bumpers, fog lamps, rear spoiler, full wheel covers, electronic trip meters and tip-tap mirrors.
