The future generation of the Audi A4 is expected to get the company’s new electric Quattro drivetrain.
The German based automaker will replace the current generation of the Audi A4 with a new one, which will be codenamed the B9, and this will be followed by an Avant version in 2015. Rumors are saying that this will be the very first model in the Audi’s lineup to get the electric Quattro drivetrain and as for its design, it will still be a smaller version of the A6, but that is where the similarities between the two models end.
According to the guys at Car Magazine, the future generation of the Audi A4 will be about 100 kg (220 lb) lighter than the current one and its total weight will stand at around 1,330 kg (2,932 lb). Besides its reduced weight, the 2015 Audi A4 will also get a plug-in hybrid system, along with the e-Quattro drivetrain.
Conventional engines will also be available on the future generation of the Audi A4 and rumors are saying that an updated 2.0 liter four-cylinder petrol with 225 HP will make its way into the lineup, along with an updated version of the 2.0 liter TDI diesel, with 197 HP. More details on the future generation of the Audi A4 will be announced shortly.
