The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is expected to be offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Good news for those of you looking into the new Corvette Stingray generation because if you wait a little longer, order you can get the sports car with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but according to a technical paper, here published by sae.org, story the new Corvette generation will definitely received an 8-speed automatic gearbox, for the 2015 model year. The sports car in question should get, besides the improved fuel efficiency, better performance too, and the new transmission will also reduce the vibration and noise, especially in top gear.
The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, in its new generation, has been officially unveiled almost a year ago and, since then, the model has hit a lot of automotive events, worldwide. The model in question is taking its power from an LT1 6.2 liter V8 engine, which is producing a total output of 455 HP (339 kW) and it has a peak torque of 624 Nm (460 lb-ft). When equipped with the performance exhaust system, the output goes up to 460 HP (343 kW) and 634 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque. This is enough to allow the model to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 190 mph.
