A concept version of the new generation Ford F-150 might make its public debut next month, during the 2013 Detroit Motor Show.
With General Motors pulling the wraps off its new 2013 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, Ford can’t afford to fall behind and it’s constantly working on developing the future generation of the popular F-150. Rumors are saying that a concept version of the 2015 Ford F-150 will be officially presented to the public during the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, but the North American based automaker didn’t confirm or deny this rumor just yet.
The next generation of the Ford F-150 is expected to use a new platform and thanks to lightweight materials, like aluminum, the total weight of the model will drop, and this will be “seen” in the model’s fuel efficiency. The pickup truck is also expected to use a lineup of small-displacement engines and the Toyota sourced hybrid technologies might also be applied to the model. An eight-speed automatic transmission will be mated to the new powertrains. Additional details on the 2015 Ford F-150 are limited for the moment and might be announced in Detroit next month.
