Ford has pulled the wraps off the 2015 F-150, ahead of its public debut which was scheduled for the 2014 NAIAS, in Detroit.
Originally previewed by the Atlas Concept, the new Ford F-150 generation seems to be inspired by the F-Series Super Duty and this justifies the prominent grille, the distinctive headlights, the rounded fender flares, the tailgate with the integrated spoiler or the stylish green house. As far as the cabin goes, the 2015 Ford F-150 is getting higher quality materials, SYNC, MyFord Touch, an 8-inch screen in the instrument cluster, a trailer brake controller, a rearview camera, a 360-degree camera system and much more.
“The all-new F-150 redefines the future of trucks, and it is yet another example of our One Ford plan producing vehicles that serve customers with a commitment to the very best quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart design and value”, said the chief operating officer from Ford, Mark Fields.
Other goodies available for the pickup truck include the bed with integrated loading ramps, the LED bed lights, the remote tailgate, the trailer hitch assist, the BoxLink system and much more. The carmaker says that the new F-150 is lighter and stronger than its predecessor. The model in question has saved up to 317 kg (700 lbs) compared to the previous version.
As far as the engine lineup goes, the 2015 Ford F-150 will get the 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6 unit, the larger 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6, the 3.5 liter V6 or the 5.0 liter Ti-VCT V8.
