The Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition has been revealed ahead of its public debut taking place at the 2014 New York Auto Show, try and its sale date, scheduled for this fall.
Ford has been working on a special edition of the Mustang, which is celebrating the model’s 50th anniversary. The muscle car has been introduced five decades ago and it’s now probably more popular than ever. The Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition is based on the 2015 Mustang GT and it has been equipped with the Performance Pack. Future owners of this model can order it in Wimbledon White or in Kona Blue exterior finishes.
“When Mustang was approved for development more than 50 years ago, I don’t think anyone imagined it would spawn such a dedicated base of fans around the world and still be in production today. We are thrilled to be here in New York – where Mustang was first shown to the public at the 1964 World’s Fair – to re-create that historic event for today’s Mustang enthusiasts”, said Bill Ford, Ford’s executive chairman.
The cabin of the muscle car has a cashmere stitched steering wheel covered in leather, two-tone cashmere and black upholstery for the seats and the 50 Year logo on the seatbacks. The Ford Mustang Limited Edition is getting the 5.0 liter V8 naturally aspirated engine under its hood, rated at over 420 HP (313 kW) and 528 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a six-speed automatic and power is sent to the 19-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires. The 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition is debuting at the 2014 New York Auto Show and it will go on sale this fall. Only 1,964 units of the muscle car will be produced.
