The new generation of the Ford Mustang is about to get even hotter with the addition of a brand new 10-speed automatic transmission.
While one of its main competitors, the Dodge Challenger, has become even hotter with the addition of the Challenger SRT Hellcat, the new generation of the Ford Mustang is focusing on technology. According to a recent report, the model in question will soon get a 10-speed automatic transmission, which will be replacing the six-speed automatic. The new gearbox will be shared with General Motors and in return, Ford will be giving the 9-speed automatic to its FWD cars.
There is no news on when the new gearbox will be added to the Mustang lineup but this will probably become available only for the top of the line Mustang GT, which currently costs 41,600 USD. The addition of the new transmission will be increasing its price and chances are that the gearbox will be making its way onto the mid-range 2.3 liter EcoBoost unit. The entry-level Mustang will be maintaining its current transmission so its price of 23,600 USD will not be affected by this.
