The 2015 Ford Mustang will not receive any diesel, hybrid or electric versions, as the company has officially announced.
Rumors on Ford developing more frugal versions of the 2015 Ford Mustang have appeared just a day ago but it seems they won’t materialize. When contacted by the inautonews.com team, the carmaker stated that there are no plans of producing a Mustang diesel, hybrid or electric version, for the 2015 model year.
“We have no plans for a diesel, hybrid or EV version of Mustang. There are currently no plans for these type of advanced technologies for Mustang”, said the Ford Motor Company Global Communication manager, Alan Hall.
If you were one of the few awaiting for such a variant of the Mustang, don’t be sad because if you read between the lines, it’s clear that the muscle car will not receive such a version for the 2015 model year, but the future is uncertain so a facelifted model, or even a new generation, will probably get a diesel, a hybrid or an electric powertrain. In the meantime, if you want a frugal engine, you can go for the new 2.3 liter EcoBoost unit, which is currently offered as a mid-range option.
