The second generation of the Ford S-MAX has been officially unveiled ahead of its public debut which has been scheduled for next month’s Paris Motor Show.
Originally previewed by the S-MAX Concept a year and a half ago, during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the brand new 2015 Ford S-MAX is now here and it is taking many of its styling cues from newer models in the company’s lineup such as the Focus or the Fiesta and this includes the Aston Martin-like front grille or the sculpted headlights, amongst others.
The 2015 Ford S-MAX is based on the new generation of the Ford Mondeo and it is coming with the electronically adjustable steering column, with power folding seats on the second and third rows, a first in the segment, a hands-free boot lid, heated and cooled massage seats and some other tweaks to make your life easier.
The engine details haven’t been confirmed yet but we should probably expect the 2.0 liter TDCI diesel, with its 118 HP (80 kW), connected to a 6-speed manual transmission, along with the 148 HP (110 kW) and the 177 HP (132 kW) versions which will most likely come with a dual clutch automatic transmission too. The 1.5 liter EcoBoost, with 158 HP (118 kW) and the 2.0 liter EcoBoost, with 237 HP (177 kW), will make it to the petrol range. More details on the new S-MAX will be announced in Paris. Sales will begin next summer.
