Ford has officially announced a series of changes for the Transit lineup in the 2016 model year.
The 2016 Ford Transit is getting ready to be launched, as the carmaker is stating. The whole lineup of the Transit has been slightly updated for the 2016 model year and the vehicle has now received some extra standard equipment, which includes the trailer hitch assist system and the rearview camera, amongst others. The USB port has been relocated too and the Transit medium- and high-roof can get the new optional sliding cargo doors. The color choices have brought four new ones, the Race Red, the Magnetic, the Shadow Black and the Caribou.
“These and other updates make the 2016 Ford Transit the smartest, most flexible van ever offered by Ford. Transit replaces America’s best-selling van for 35 years, E-Series, first sold in 1961 as Ford Econoline, and we look forward to continuing our leadership in this important segment”, said the Ford brand manager for Transit, Transit Connect and E-Series, Yaro Hetman.
The updated version of the Ford Transit is also coming with the SYNC3 infotainment system, available as an option, auxiliary fuse panels, AGM batter and heavy-duty alternator. The car manufacturer is also bringing the standard second-row bucket seats on the Titanium versions, the optional Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, the 17-inch alloy wheels on the XLT and Titanium and so on. The vehicles equipped with the 2.5 liter four-cylinder unit have also gained the flex-fuel system. No pricing details have been made public at this time.
