BMW has officially shown the new 330e plug-in hybrid during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Besides showcasing some special edition vehicles and even a racing car, amongst others, BMW has also taken the time to pull the wraps off the 330e, during the newest German automotive event, the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The model in question is nothing more than a plug-in hybrid coming with the looks of the new 3-Series and its practicality, combined with a “green” powertrain which should attract even more customers into the brand.
The brand new BMW 330e is making use of a 2.0 liter four-cylinder petrol burner, equipped with the TwinPower Turbo technology. The internal combustion unit is capable of putting down a total of 184 HP (135 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque and it is backed up by an electric motor which is generating an extra 88 HP (65 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. The total output sent to the wheels stands at 252 HP (185 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to this configuration, the vehicle needs just 6.1 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) and it can go up to a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph). The 330e can travel on electricity alone for up to 40 km (25 miles), at speeds up to 120 km/h (75 mph) and it is returning between 1.9 and 2.1L / 100 km, while emitting 44-49 g/km of CO2.
