The resurrected Borgward name has brought the BX7 crossover to the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Borgward is now owned by a Chinese company called Foton Motor and it is bringing its first ever vehicle in more than 50 years, the BX7, to the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The crossover stands at 4.7 meters in length, with a trunk capacity of up to 1,344 liters with the rear seats folded and it can carry up to seven people. The cabin has received the 12.3-inch touch screen display with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather surfaces, brushed aluminum trim, Nappa leather sport seats with diamond stitching and more.
The new Borgward BX7 is going to be offered with a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing a total of 224 HP (165 kW) and 300 Nm (222 lb-ft) of torque, sent to the four-wheel drive through a dual clutch transmission. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), this version needs less than 10 seconds and it can go up to a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). A plug-in hybrid version will also be offered and this is believed to get a total of 401 HP (295 kW) and to be able to go in electric mode for 55 km (34 miles). The Borgward BX7 will be offered for sale in China at first but Europeans will get to order it as well, sometimes next year. Prices will start from 26,000 euros in Germany.
