Hyundai has previewed the new i20 WRC rally car at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The brand new Hyundai i20 WRC rally car has been previewed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The racer is the first product of the company’s newly established N performance division and it has been based on the second generation of the road-going supermini. The vehicle has received an optimized weight distribution and better powertrain efficiency and these, along with the updated aerodynamics, should make it a more competitive racing car in the next WRC season.
“Based on the New Generation i20, the i20 WRC Rally Car is the preview for the vehicle that will compete in the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship. Featuring optimized weight distribution, greater powertrain efficiency and enhanced aerodynamics, the car is already undergoing a punishing testing, engineering and development regime in build up to its final rally-specification ahead of its debut at Rally Monte Carlo in January 2016”, says the automaker in its press release.
The testing of the new rally car has begun and this will continue to be adjusted until it will be making its racing debut next January, at the Rally Monte Carlo. The model has received a beefier and more aerodynamic body, specific wheels, an air scoop, a large rear spoiler and several other goodies which will improve its performance. Sadly we have no clue at this point what is found under its hood or what the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint takes but we will let you take a look at it in the photo gallery posted below.
