The world debut of the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder has been made at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
After showing us the time has come for the Italian based automaker to chop the roof off the Huracan as well, in its second body style, the Huracan Spyder. The supercar is now taking on the Ferrari 488 Spider and on the McLaren 650S Spider and it has been officially presented to the public, in a premiere, during the German automotive event.
The Sant’Agata Bolognese based company is saying that the drop-top exotic vehicle has been equipped with a lightweight soft top which can be dropped in just 17 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph. Compared to its predecessor, the Gallardo Spyder, the new model has a lightweight body shell which is 40 percent stiffer. The model is said to be extremely precise and has lost very little over the coupe.
The rear mid-engine and all-wheel drive layout has been maintained and so has the 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine which is still capable of putting down a total of 602 HP (449 kW) and a peak torque of 560 Nm (413 lb-ft). The unit is sending power to the AWD system through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint has fallen from 3.2 seconds in the coupe to 3.4 seconds. The newest Lamborghini convertible will have a starting price of 186,450 euros and the first deliveries will begin in spring, 2016.
