The Porsche Mission E Concept is debuting as we speak at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and it is promising to become a competitor for the Tesla Model S.
One of the first direct competitors to the Tesla Model S is going to be the production version of the Porsche Mission E Concept. The model in question is believed to roll off the production line by the end of this decade but no official details on the topic have been made public at this point. The one-off car is bringing four individual slim and lightweight seats in its cabin, several OLED screens replacing most of the buttons and knobs and an eye-tracking system.
The system is using a camera to detect which instrument is being viewed by the driver. The carmaker has also added a holographic display which is extending to the passenger’s side. This is showing the individually selectable and controllable apps which include the navigation, climate control, media, contacts and so on.
The new Porsche Mission E Concept is an all-electric vehicle which is adopting an all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering. It is making use of two electric motors producing a total of 600 HP (440 kW) and it has an 800-volt drive system, along with the new Porsche Turbo Charging system, which can recharge the batteries up to 80 percent in just 15 minutes, providing it enough juice to go for 400 km (248 miles). The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration is made in 3.5 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) this needs less than 12 seconds. The model has apparently lapped the Nurburgring in less than 8 minutes.
