Volkswagen has brought the new Golf GTI Clubsport to the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, for a global premiere.
After being officially unveiled online just a week ago, the brand new Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport is now returning to our attention with its public debut taking place as we speed during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The model in question is in its production version but, despite this, we have no clue at this point on how much it will cost, but it will be obviously more expensive than the Performance version which starts from 30,400 euros, in Germany. The flagship model will remain the Golf R AWD which costs 39,000 euros, so this particular model will be priced in between.
The new Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport is making use of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine which is capable of putting down a total of 290 HP (213 kW) with the overboost function, available for 10 seconds, while in regular shape it has 265 HP (195 kW). This basically means 35 HP (26 kW) more than the Golf GTI Performance. Power is being sent to the wheels though a standard 6-speed manual transmission or through an optional DSG. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), the new hot hatch needs just 6 seconds with the manual and 5.9 seconds with the automatic. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). VW says that the average fuel consumption of the car stands at 6.9 L / 100 km.
