After its crucial North American debut earlier this year, the Italian premium brand has also decided to cater for the home market of Europe, bringing to the 2015 edition of the Geneva auto show the Euro-spec 4C Spider.
Naturally, the European-specification model will virtually look identical to its over the seas sibling, being scheduled to reach dealerships just when the weather is perfect for open-top road tripping – the summer. It will also receive the recently introduced Giallo (yellow) paint and the standard projector-style xenon headlamps. For an extra the customers can opt in on the carbon fiber hardtop and bug-eyed headlights with carbon surrounds. Also optional is the center-mounted Akrapovic titanium exhaust system that also has carbon fiber tips. A large choice of 17/18 inch front and 18/19 inch back rims finished in dark or silver can also be had alongside a carbon fiber air intake system.
As far as power is concerned, the coupe model has delivered its standard 1.75-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline mill that can deliver 237 bhp (177 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque towards the rear wheels via a twin-clutch transmission (TCT). That would be quite enough to jump to 100 km/h under 4.5 seconds and top out at 160 mph (258 km/h). Pricing for the Uk has already been announced, with the open top starting at £59,500. Alfa Romeo has refrained from bringing any substantial novelties at the show, besides the Spider and slightly tweaked coupe model, building up suspense for the key June launch of the upcoming midsize sedan designed to replace the aged 159 model.
