The world premiere of the brand new Ferrari 488 GTB has been made recently during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Ferrari has officially presented to the public the brand new 488 GTB in a world premiere. The supercar has been unveiled over the web a few weeks back and it has been taking part in a private event in Maranello but this is the first time ever when car enthusiasts can check it out up close. The model is the official replacement for the 458 Italia but it isn’t a new generation but more of a facelift, something similar to the California and California T.
The brand new Ferrari 488 GTB has a familiar design with a big air intake reminding us of the 308 GTB, a splitter, a wider front spoiler, a new diffuser with active flaps, new LED taillights and so on. The most important part of the model is found under its hood where the old 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine has been dropped in favor of a new unit.
This is a 3.9 liter twin turbo V8 which is taking Ferrari supercars into a new era. The unit is rated at 670 HP (493 kW) and 760 Nm (560 lb-ft) of torque, connected to the rear wheels through a modified dual clutch 7-speed transmission with variable torque management. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) the supercar needs 3 seconds and it can reach 200 km/h (124 mph) from a standstill in 8.3 seconds. Top speed stands at 330 km/h (205 mph). The model will go on sale in the next months and it will be joined by the Spider by the end of the year.
