The brand new Honda Civic Type R has been officially presented to the public in a world premiere during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Following a lot of spy shots, teaser images and leaked photos, the brand new Honda Civic Type R is finally here as it has been introduced at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The newest addition to the compact hot hatch segment is packing in an aerodynamic body kit which is made out of the new front bumper with large air intakes, the front splitter, the larger side skirts, the ventilated front fenders, the flat underbody panels which are actually channeling the air to the rear diffuser, the prominent rear wing and so on.
The C-segment hot hatch has also received a four tailpipe exhaust system and it is now riding on 19-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 235/35 tires which have been specifically developed for it. The interior design has been carried over mostly and this is expectable but we can still find the leather wrapped sport steering wheel, the machined aluminum gear knob, the sports seats with red contras stitching and so on. The model is also getting Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, GPS navigation, premium audio system, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, power folding side mirrors, front and rear parking sensors and red exterior accents. These are all available with the GT package.
The Honda Civic Type R is also coming with a Brembo front braking system with 4-piston calipers and the 350 mm drilled discs, with a 4-point Adaptive Damper System, Dual Axis Strut Front Suspension system, Dual Pinion Electric Power Steering and so on. Under its hood we can find the 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which is capable of producing a total output of 310 HP (228 kW) and a peak torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). The unit is connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), the Civic Type R needs just 5.7 seconds and top speed stands at 270 km/h (167 mph). No pricing details have been announced on it yet.
