The 2015 Detroit Motor Show has seen the Maserati Alfieri Concept, which is offering us a preview of a future sports car.
Very few debuts have been made at the 2015 North American International Auto Show and the Maserati Alfieri Concept makes no exception. The model in question has been first introduced back in August 2014, at the Monterey Car Week, and since then it has been brought to a lot of automotive events across the globe, including the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Now, the public attending the 2015 Detroit Motor Show can take a closer look at this appealing one-off ride.
The Maserati Alfieri Concept will not remain a show car because the Italian based automaker is planning on putting it into production. The model in question should be introduced sometimes in 2016, in a coupe body style, but a convertible will be following it shortly, a year later. The production version of the Alfieri will be having the tough job of going against the Porsche 911, the Mercedes-AMG GT and the Jaguar F-Type, so it will have to be pretty good in order to cope with the competition.
Rumor has it that the Maserati Alfieri will be riding on an adapted version of the platform which is currently used on the Ghibli and on the Quattroporte and in its cheapest variant, it should get a 410 HP (301 kW) 3.0 liter V6 turbo engine under its hood, while the more expensive models will be getting 450 HP (331 kW) and 520 HP (382 kW), along with the all-wheel drive system.
