2015 NAIAS: Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake image

The Shooting Brake version of the Mercedes-Benz CLA has made its local debut in the United States at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show.

The second body style of the appealing Mercedes-Benz CLA, the Shooting Brake, has been around since autumn of last year and it is now being highlighted once more with the carmaker bringing it to the 2015 North American International Auto Show. The vehicle will be going on sale shortly and it stands at 4.6 meters in length, offering 25 more liters of cargo space to 495 liters which can raise to 1,354 liters with the rear seats folded.

Mercedes-Benz has a big advantage with the new CLA body style considering the fact that neither the BMW 1-Series or the Audi A3 is offering anything similar so the ball is in the competition’s yard. The CLA Shooting Brake is being offered in four trim levels, the Sport, the AMG Sport, the Engineered by AMG and the AMG, along with a special edition model which is called the Orange Art.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake is riding on the MFA (Modular Front Architecture), along with its four-door brother, with the GLA, A-Class and B-Class. As far as the engine lineup goes, this is carried over from the regular CLA and it includes the CLA 200 CDI, the CLA 220 CDI, the CLA 200 and the CLA 250. Let’s not forget the CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake either, which is being offered with the impressive 2.0 liter turbo unit, rated at 360 HP (265 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.
