The Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE Concept has been officially unveiled and it will be making its way to the 2015 NAIAS, Detroit.
Volkswagen couldn’t miss out on the 2015th edition of the North American International Auto Show and it is currently attending the automotive event with the Cross Coupe GTE Concept, amongst other vehicles. The model in question has been designed in order to offer a first preview of an upcoming crossover aimed towards the North American market and it is getting an aggressive front fascia, strong character lines, sloping roofline, gloss black accents, tailgate mounted spoiler, 22-inch aluminum wheels, semi-aniline Nappa leather seats, aluminum accents, gloss black trim, 10.1-inch display for the infotainment system, touch screen climate control system and several other goodies.
As far as the performance part goes, the brand new Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE Concept has a 3.6 liter V6 engine under its hood, which is being backed up by two electric motors, taking their juice from the 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. The total output produced by this setup stands at 355 HP (264 kW) and 379 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. From 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h), the model needs 6 seconds and it will ravel for up to 20 miles (32 km) on electricity alone. The production version of the new Cross Coupe GTE will be put together in Chattanooga, Tennessee, by the end of next year. More details on it are limited at this time and will be announced soon.
