Kia has officially pulled the wraps off the 2016 Optima at the 2015 New York Auto Show as the model in question will go on sale towards the end of the year.
The 2016 Kia Optima has received a lighter and stiffer chassis, thanks to the use of more high-strength steel. This is getting an evolutionary design too, with the new front fascia, the prominent air intakes and the sweptback headlights. Kia says that the redesigned Optima can be had with the HID headlights with the High Beam Assist.
Some significant updates have been announced in the cabin where the higher quality materials have been used, along with the additional soft-touch materials, the more comfortable seats, infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and the 6-speaker audio system. More expensive versions will get the 14-speaker sound system, along with the leather and Nappa leather upholstery and the heated and ventilated front seats.
Safety features found on the car include the Advanced Smart Cruise Control, the Around View Monitor, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Autonomous Emergency Braking and so on. As far as the engine lineup goes, the 2016 Kia Optima is getting the 2.4L four-cylinder unit with 185 HP (137 kW) & 241 Nm (178 lb-ft) of torque, the 1.6 liter four-cylinder turbo with 178 HP (132 kW) & 264 Nm (195 lb-ft) and the 2.0L four-cylinder turbo with 247 HP (184 kW) & 352 Nm (260 lb-ft).
