The brand new Porsche Boxster Spyder has been officially unveiled at the 2015 New York Auto Show, in a premiere.
Following several spy shots and reports, the brand new Porsche Boxster Spyder is finally here and it has been officially presented to the public, in a world premiere, during the 2015 New York Auto Show. The roadster has been designed to appeal to purists and it is getting the Cayman GT4-sourced front and rear bumpers and engine cover, the unique lightweight soft top which is partially manually operated, an interior design which has been mostly carried over, the new steering wheel with 360mm in diameter, the eliminated air conditioning and radio control to reduce weight and several other tweaks.
Porsche says that the new Boxster Spyder is also packing the improved steering system, the sports suspension system which is reducing the ride height by 20 mm, the high performance brakes from the 911 Carrera and more. Under its hood we can find the 3.8 liter six-cylinder engine, which is capable of producing a total output of 375 HP (276 kW), being connected exclusively to a manual transmission. Thanks to this configuration, the Boxster Spyder needs just 4.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill and it can go all the way up to 290 km/h (180 mph). The sports car will go on sale in Germany this July from 79,945 EUR and it will be arriving in the United States in October, when it will be setting you back for 82,100 USD, without the 995 USD destination charge.
