The 2016 Scion iM hatchback has been officially presented to the public at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
Originally previewed by a concept car last year, the Scion iM has been officially unveiled during the automotive event in the Big Apple. The model in question is basically the American version of the Toyota Auris and it is getting a more aggressive look. The list of equipment for the 5-door hatchback is including the heated power-folding side mirrors, the dual-zone automatic climate control system, automatic headlights, navigation system, available at an extra cost, along with the body graphics, the all-weather floor mats, interior light kit, performance accessories coming from TRD and so on.
The 2016 Scion iM is also bringing the acoustic layer windshield, floor silencer sheets, 7-inch Pioneer Display Audio unit, 6-speaker sound system, leather wrapped multi-function steering wheel, 4.2-inch TFT, front passenger seat cushion airbag, driver’s knee airbag, rear double wishbone suspension system, 17-inch wheels wrapped in 225/45 tires and several other tweaks.
The hatchback is taking its power exclusively from the 1.8 liter DOHC Valvematic four-cylinder gasoline burner, which is capable of producing a total output of 137 HP (102 kW). The unit is connected to a 6-speed manual, offered in standard, or to an optional 7-speed CVTi-S, returning 6.3 L / 100 km of fuel (44.4 mpg UK / 37 mpg US) on the highway. Deliveries of the 2016 Scion iM should begin this fall and prices for the model are expected to start at less than 20,000 USD.
