The Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Alltrack has been officially introduced over-seas at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
After debuting last year in Paris, the Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Alltrack has been introduced in the United States too, during the 2015 New York Auto Show. The model in question is getting ready for the local launch and it will become available for order in 2016, coming as a 2017 model year. The vehicle is exactly the same as the European version and it is getting the aluminum protection plates, the plastic body cladding and several other tweaks, along with the 20mm increased ride height.
“We have heard from dealers and customers that they want to see a Golf SportWagen with the all-terrain capability that comes from all-wheel drive. We are delighted to introduce the SportWagen Alltrack in 2016 in the U.S.”, said the Volkswagen Group of America president and CEO, Michael Horn.
The 2017 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen Alltrack is getting the standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive system with the Haldex coupling. Volkswagen hasn’t announced at this time the official engine lineup for the model in the United States but in the European version, this is getting the 180 HP and 280 Nm of torque 1.8 liter TSI, along with the 110 HP and 250 Nm of torque 1.6 TDI, the 150 HP and 340 Nm 2.0 TDI and the same unit with 184 HP and 380 Nm of torque. No pricing details have been made public either, at this time.
