The new generation of the Subaru WRX STI has managed to set a new lap record at the Isle of Man TT Road Course, after managing to complete it in just 19 minutes and 26 seconds.
The 2015 Subaru WRX STI seems to have what it takes and even if Mitsubishi hasn’t provided a new Evo, this still can be the vehicle of choice for enthusiasts. Such a model has recently managed to set a new lap record at the Isle of Man TT Road Course, which is 59.5 km (27 mile) long. The course has been finished in 19 minutes and 26 seconds, at an average speed of 187.44 km/h (116.47 mph), beating the 2010 WRX’s record of 19 minutes and 56.7 seconds.
“It was quite a lap we did today and I am really happy to have another record in the bank. The chassis on this new car is so much better it really allowed me to pick up time in each sector in the more technical parts of the course”, said Mark Higgings, the British rally champion, who was behind the wheel in the 2015 WRX STI.
The 2015 Subaru WRX STI as a 2.5 liter four-cylinder turbocharged boxer engine, which is providing 306 HP (227 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 393 Nm (290 lb-ft) of torque, available at 4,000 rpm. The unit is connected to a 6-speed manual transmission, sending power to the symmetrical AWD system. Top speed of the vehicle stands at 264 km/h (164 mph).
