ABT Sportsline has officially introduced a modified version of the Volkswagen Golf R during the 2015 Worthersee, in a premiere.
If you believed that ABT Sportsline is missing out from the show at the 2015 Worthersee, think again, because the tuning company is present at the event with a modified version of the Volkswagen Golf R. According to the aftermarket specialist, the model in question has received the lime green finish for the body and the hardware updates which have been created especially by ABT. The vehicle is also getting the custom front grille, headlight covers, carbon like wrap on side mirror casings, redesigned side skirts, glossy black diffuser, quad 102 mm exhaust tips, 20-inch wheels with ABT-FR wheels and so on.
“According to Hollywood, the ancient Greeks didn’t need more than 300 Spartan foot soldiers to keep a mighty army at bay. If you want to come to fame at the Austrian Worthersee event at Reifnitz from 13 – 16 May, you need a few more troops. And fast cavalry only, please. ABT Sportsline has therefore equipped the Golf R, presented at its joint booth with H&R, with 400 hp / 294 kW (production car: 300 hp / 221 kW)”, says ABT in its press release.
ABT Sportsline is making use of the same 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine used on the regular version too, which is capable of putting down an extra 100 HP (73 kW), bringing the total output to 400 HP (294 kW). Sadly, ABT Sportsline hasn’t released any performance figures on this one-off version of the VW Golf R so chances are we will hear about it again, in the near future.
