Oettinger has officially pulled the wraps off their Volkswagen Golf R500 during the 2015 Worthersee.
Being described as a “super sports car”, Oettinger’s newest creation, the so-called Volkswagen Golf R500, has been based on the range topping version of the model, the Golf R. The vehicle is getting a more aggressive body kit, compared to the standard ride, along with the 20-inch ATS forged wheels, wrapped in Dunlop Sport Maxx tires. The cabin is also adopting a sporty styling and this is getting the Alcantara accents, the revised trim, the leather / Alcantara sport seats, the new gear knob with an orange contrast stitching and several other goodies.
“Unbelievable is also the development time of the OETTINGER 500R. A mere three and a half months between the first model and the premiere at Worthersee. The OETTINGER designer Rolf Schepp has the OETTINGER 500R Racing Design Package designed and implemented with four modelers into action. The scale 1: 4 was pre-tested in the wind tunnel”, said the tuner in the press release.
The new Volkswagen Golf R500 by Oettinger is coming with a 2.5 liter five-cylinder TFSI petrol burner, equipped with a new turbocharger, with an optimized ECU, forged pistons, improved cooling system, a new air intake and a sports exhaust system. The total output of the unit is now standing in at 518 HP (381 kW) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. The vehicle now needs 3.4s to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and it can go up to 300 km/h (186 mph). The company is apparently working on different versions of this kit, which will be offering 600 HP (441 kW), 650 HP (478 kW) and even 750 HP (551 kW). Pricing for the R500 is expected to start from 150,000 euros.
