The world premiere of the revised Audi A8 L Security will be made at the next week.
After we have seen the Range Rover Sentinel just a day ago, time has come to talk about yet another armored luxury cruiser, the 2016 Audi A8 L Security. The model in question has been upgraded to the VR9 level of protection from the previous VR7 and it has been named the “most secure Audi ever”.
The flagship sedan has received resistant materials in its safety cell which include the aluminum alloys, the hot-formed steel armor and aramide fabric, all of them aimed towards boosting protection and lowering its weight. The Audi A8 L Security is bringing, in standard, the armored communication box mounted in the trunk, the intercom, selective door unlocking system and, for an extra price, it can also get the optional exit system, the emergency fresh air system, the fire extinguisher and so on.
Audi says that the maximum payload capacity of its newest armored car is 600 kg (1,322 lbs) and, in this current version, it can be had with the 4.0 liter TFSI V8 bi-turbo engine, rated at 435 HP (320 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque, or with the W12 FSI naturally aspirated unit, producing 500 HP (368 kW) and 625 Nm (461 lb-ft) of torque.
Both versions of the car are getting the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system which has been tweaked specifically for it while the chassis has been modified too. The carmaker is also saying that regardless of the engine chosen, the top speed of the car will be electronically limited to 210 km/h (130 mph) in order to preserve the integrity of the run-flat tires. The Audi A8 L Security is already available for order and it will be making its public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, in just a few days. Deliveries will begin in spring, 2016.
