The first teaser image for the upcoming Audi R8, in its second generation, has been released recently by the car manufacturer.
The highly anticipated 2016 Audi R8 is just around the corner and in order to place it into the spotlights for the first time, officially speaking, the company has released the first teaser image. The model in question is showing us a small part of its front end but even if the rest of the car is covered up, we can still notice its evolutionary design and its laser headlights, which will be adopted by the final production version.
The laser headlights will not be offered as standard but they will become available as an option. Standard ones will be the LED headlights, with 37 LEDs per headlight. The laser ones will be coming with the blue light signature and this should differentiate them from the regular LED headlamps. The architecture of the supercar will be shared with the one of the already available Huracan and the “sharing” will not stop here.
The 2016 Audi R8 will be using an upgraded version of the 5.2 liter V10 engine and it will drop the naturally aspirated 4.2 liter V8. On its Italian cousin, the unit is rated at 602 HP (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque, which is allowing the supercar to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 3.2 seconds and to go up to 325 km/h (202 mph). The new R8 generation will be officially presented to the public during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, in early March.
