Audi might pull a surprise on all of us and after confirming the 5.2L V10 from the Huracan under the hood of the R8, the company might also add a smaller V6 along with a diesel variant.
In between dropping the V8 from the new R8 generation and adopting the same the supercar might also pack a smaller V6, which might be offered as an entry-level version. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but it was part of an interview published by Top Gear, who has spoken to the R8 technical lead Roland Schala.
The company’s official declined to go into specifics but has hinted that the V6 might be just the perfect engine for this kind of car and he also suggested that the unit in question might produce at least 400 HP (298 kW). For the first time ever, the Audi R8 might also pack a diesel engine under its hood, but this remains a simple idea at the moment because the company isn’t sure about it. However, expect a plug-in hybrid too.
We are not sure exactly at the moment what engines the new generation of the Audi R8 will be adopting but with the 2015th edition of the Geneva Motor Show coming in pretty fast and the debut of the supercar being made then, details on it are just around the corner. Inautonews.com will be present at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show so keep a close watch for world debuts starting with the 3rd of March.
