Two renderings with the upcoming 2016 Audi R8 Spyder are showing us how the new generation of the sports car may look like, once it will be ready for the market.
Audi has officially pulled the wraps off the new generation of the R8, during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, last month, but the model is currently being offered only as a coupe. Rumor has it that the Spyder variant may be introduced at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, this September, or even sometimes next year so, until this will be ready for the market, images like the two posted below are really what we’ve got. Keep in mind that the two photos are nothing more than simple renderings which have been signed by Theophilus Chin.
The 2016 Audi R8 has a CFRP and aluminum made new Space frame and its total weight stands at 1,555 kg, for the regular model, and 1,454 kg for the R8 V10 Plus. In the cabin we can find new bucket seats, a 12.3-inch display replacing many of the buttons and controls, optional Band & Olufsen audio system, some carbon fiber accents, Nappa / Alcantara upholsteries and so on. Power is provided by a 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, rated at 540 HP (397 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque, in the base model. The V10 Plus has 610 HP (449 kW) and 650 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is made in 3.2 seconds and top speed is 330 km/h (205 mph).
