Audi has announced that the 2016 RS3 Sportback has received no less than 400 pre-orders in Australia.

The newest compact premium hot hatch to reach the Australian shores is the 2016 Audi RS3 Sportback. The model in question will not be offered for sale until October but that didn’t stop its future buyers to place no less than 400 pre-orders. According to the car manufacturer, the cheapest version of the vehicle has a starting price of 78,900 AUD, plus the on-road costs, getting the 19-inch alloy wheels, RS sport suspension, sport exhaust, sport front seats, the MMI Navigation Plus, Audi Music Interface,, Audi Sound System, Bluetooth, DAB+ digital radio, automatic air conditioning with dual climate control and several other goodies, in standard.

Some of the safety tweaks available for the performance hatchback include the front airbags, side airbags, head-level curtain airbags for the front row, driver’s knee airbag, ESC with ABS, EDL, ASR, Audi Side Assist, Audi Parking System Plus with front and rear sensors and a rear-view camera and the electromechanical speed-sensitive power steering. Under its hood we can find the 2.5 liter five-cylinder petrol engine. This is producing a total of 367 HP (270 kW) and a peak torque of 465 Nm (345 lb-ft). Power is being sent to the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system through a 7-speed S tronic transmission, allowing the car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds. Top speed has been electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) but this can be raised to 280 km/h (174 mph).
