2016 Beijing Motor Show: Chery FV2030 concept image

The Chinese automaker has revealed during the Auto China 2016 the prototype of a very futuristic concept, which is definitely spotlight grabber and most importantly doesn’t look copied from anywhere.

The radical FV2030 is being treated as the preview for the company’s future thinking and outlook, with the interpretation styled as a crossover coupe. We’re treated to a very bold front end with ‘floating’ grille, large air intakes and a high-riding bonnet. The bespoke design doesn’t end there though: the side profile is adorned with semi-transparent gullwing doors, gloss black fender flares, and massive alloy wheels which have been equipped with custom tires. The side skirts are also catchy and we can see cameras will replace traditional exterior mirrors. The FV2030 also comes with a tailgate-mounted spoiler, an aluminum skid plate, and a floating LED taillight bar.

Chery didn’t reveal many specifications and moving inside we can see there’s a minimalistic cabin combining white leather seats and LED lighting. The automaker’s vision also includes a “fantasy” 3D holographic display that takes charge to deliver vehicle and infotainment information. There are no performance specs to talk about and Chery only confirmed a new energy setup with an electrified powertrain – but that can mean three things: plug in hybrid, battery electric or fuel cell. There are also autonomous driving features coming from the “smart pilotless technology”.
