2016 Beijing Motor Show: Chevrolet Cruze Tron concept image

The US automaker has decided to celebrate the grand opening of the Shanghai Disney Resort by delivering at Auto China 2016 a Cruze concept paying homage to the Tron: Legacy movie.

The bespoke prototype will remain a one-off and was developed in partnership with Disney to pay “tribute to the ultimate experience of speed and power from the 2011 science fiction movie.” The exterior styling hasn’t been altered much – there’s a black paint with metallic blue accents on the roof, grille and bumpers. To make it part of the movie’s universe, the vehicle has also been equipped with custom alloys and tinted lighting units that have blue illumination. The bespoke treatment is also available for the interior where prospective drivers will be greeted by two-tone leather seats, a leather-wrapped dashboard, and blue contrast stitching. Other amenities include gloss black trim, blue accents, and ice blue ambient lighting.

Chevrolet refrained from delivering any technical specifications or details. The regular, Chinese specification Cruze is being available with two powertrains. A naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder is the base option, delivering 112 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. There’s also a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine that packs 147 hp and 173 lb-ft of torque. It is linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox and the Cruze will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 9.9 seconds on its way to a maximum speed of 124 mph.
