The future generation of the BMW 7-Series has been caught on camera, while it was being tested out, by our spy photographers once again.
BMW’s flagship sedan is getting ready to receive a new generation as the model in question is being tested as we speak. The vehicle will be getting an evolutionary design and a heavily updated platform. The company will revolutionize the way its cars are produced as it wants to increase environmental consciousness and to meet the tightening emissions regulations across the globe. This basically means a lighter construction and more fuel-efficient engines.
The 2016 BMW 7-Series is expected to incorporate a mix of materials which will include the carbon fiber, the aluminum and the steel. Thanks to the use of these, the model will handle better and will improve its acceleration and braking. As far as the engine lineup goes, we expect to see six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder options, with turbocharging and direct injection technologies. A plug-in hybrid model is also in the works with technology borrowed from Toyota. Expect a new M Performance model too, equipped with a V8 twin turbo. Full WiFi capability will be added to the model, along with a Harman Kardon audio system, 3D maps with traffic and weather alerts, increased voice activation, downloadable apps and much more. The new 7-Series will be introduced next year, probably in Geneva, in March.
