BMW has released a large photo gallery with the recently unveiled M135i, the company’s hot hatch.
After being officially presented to the public during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, at the beginning of March, the brand new BMW M135i is now returning in a new photo gallery which has been recently released by the carmaker. We have to admit that its pre-facelift version wasn’t helping it at all, visually speaking, the tweaks made especially to its front fascia are now making it look like a true competitor for the Audi RS3 or for the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, amongst others.
The 2016 BMW M135i has lost its sad looking face and it is now looking more like the appealing 2-Series Coupe / 2-Series Convertible. The headlights are now slimmer and the kidney grille has been maintained. The additions made to the front and rear bumpers and the other slightly modified items are telling us that this isn’t the regular 1-Series but it isn’t either a fully M developed vehicle.
The facelifted version of the 1-Series, which has been introduced a few weeks back, is the first ever BMW rear-wheel drive vehicle to get a 3-cylinder engine under its hood. We’re talking about the 1.5L unit in the 116i, with its 109 HP and 180 Nm of torque. On the opposite side, the M135i has a 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine, with 326 HP (240 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, allowing it to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.1 seconds with the 6-speed manual and 4.9 seconds with the 8-speed automatic. The xDrive M135i, equipped with the automatic, can do it in 4.7s.
