The front fascia of the next generation BMW X1 has leaked all over the web ahead of the model’s introduction in mid-2015.
Besides working on a facelifted version of the 3-Series, BMW is also developing a new generation of the X1. The smallest crossover in the company’s lineup is getting ready to receive a successor which will be significantly different than the one already available on the market. Its design language will be influenced by that of its larger brothers, the X3, X4, X5 and X6 and this will be a completely different car.
The 2016 BMW X1 will be riding on the UKL platform, which means front-wheel drive, with the xDrive all-wheel drive coming in as an option. A long wheelbase version of the model is also expected, along with engine options which will be borrowed from the 2-Series Active Tourer. These will include the 1.5 liter three-cylinder gasoline burner, with its 136 HP (100 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque, along with the 2.0 liter four-cylinder gasoline and diesel burners, with outputs ranging between 136 HP (100 kW) and 231 HP (170 kW). The new X1 generation is expected to be introduced next year. More details on it are limited at this time.
