2016 BMW X1 spotted, partially shows its interior design image

A new batch of fresh spy shots with the new generation of the BMW X1 has been provided by our spy photographers.

There is no surprise anymore that the German based automaker BMW is currently working on a new X1 generation, because the crossover has been spotted before several times. What comes as something new, compared to the current variant, is the adoption of front-wheel drive, for standard versions, while the xDrive all-wheel drive will be offered as an option for pricier variants. The new BMW X1 generation will be riding on the same UKL front-wheel drive platform used on the 2-Series Active Tourer and also the same one which will be used on the FAST (Family Active Sports Tourer), which is also in development.

The 2016 BMW X1 will be coming with the same kidney grilles, with the evolutionary design of the lighting units, with curved lines and a slightly sloping roofline, which will not be affecting the rear headroom. As far as the engine lineup goes, we are expecting the 2-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel units, along with the 1.5 liter 3-cylinder petrol. The most powerful model is expected to get close to 240 HP but “tree huggers” will also be able to turn their heads towards a plug-in hybrid version, which will make its way onto the market later on. More details on the new generation of the BMW X1 remain unknown for the moment. The model is expected to be unveiled later on this year.
